Rationale and
Supporter |
Details of the SUT-MOTS project. |
Checking DVD integrity with the system
boot DVD |
After
the system is booted by using the system DVD, use menu "Check Disk" and
follow those steps.
Checking disk is important. It is to check if the CDROM drive is still
functioning well or the system DVD is containing all neccesary data
correctly. |
Checking DVD integrity when in the SUT -
MOTS system |
This function is used to test if the system DVD still
contain the correct data. To access this program, use browser
bookmarks:
Utilities ==> Check Disk Intrigrity |
Start Using the System |
First
you have to install it on the hard disk. To do this, you need to have a
partition (or a drive in MS window) at least 4GB available.
Boot the computer with the SUT-MOTS system DVD and will come to the
installer where the menu of many operations are shown. Use menu
"Install SUTins" and follow those steps. The SUT-MOTS system will
occupy the whole shosen partition and format it as ext3 file system.
This drive or partition will not show on MS windows. Later, if you
decide to delete SUT-MOTS, this drive will be formatted back to the
previous file type and it will be available on MS window system again. |
Using Teacher Mode
|
Explains how a testcher will use the system to
compose the test and the get the test result. |
Using Proctor Mode
|
Explain how a proctor will use the system
effectively. |
Using Student Mode
|
Explain how a test taker will use take the test. |
Adding More Test Web |
SUT-MOTS comes with the ability to have many online
tests on the same
server. To mange this, on the web browser, use bookmarks: Manage Online
Test Web and follow those steps. |
Setting Up IP |
Linux server is normally installed on the machine to
become a server which normally has at least one network interfacing
card.
Setting IP for the server is one of the requirement to run SUT-MOTS
successfully for the test. |
Remote Admin |
For
security reason, this is not reccommended. However, this system comes
with the ability to access the whole system in GUI mode remotely. The
client software (vncviewer.exe) is provided and can be downloaded from
http://IP-of-this-server/download/. To enable remote admin, search the
Internet "remote admin on fedora core". You may also want to disable
firewall by using command line in the terminal. To disable it to let
remote admin protocol passthrough, use command: service iptables stop.
When you have finished and want to recall firewall setup, use command:
service iptables start.
|
Setting Up Firewall |
Firewall on Linux is to setup rules for iptables.
Please search for "how to setup iptables" on the Internet. |
Accessing Removeable Devices |
Accessing
removable devices such as floppy disk, flash drive and CDROM on Linux
is not the same as accessing them on MS windows. In Linux, you have to
mount them before using and when finish before removing the device from
their connection place, you have to unmount them first. When a
removeable device is attached to the system, by default setup, an icon
with appear on the task(panel) bar at the bottom of the screen.
You have to right click on that icon and choose mount or unmount. After
the device is mounted, you may open it, browse data on it, copy data or
read it. |
Making You Own Distribution |
SUT-MOT comes with the ability to help you to create
your own distribution.
After you have installed SUT-MOTS system to the hard disk, run it,
changed it and/or modified it and give details of you new distribution
by changing data on many files in /mycd directory. Then boot the
computer with the system DVD and when the installer starts choose menu
"MakeMyCD" and follow those steps. Besically, you need to specify where
your distribution is and where you want to keep the iso file of your
new distribution. |
Security
Consideration |
Things that users should know concerning system
security. |
DNS
Server setup
|
It is a DNS Server set
up for SUT-MOTS.
|
Developers |
Many people have gotten involved.
Without them and
you, the users, this good system will not exist. |
License |
SUT-MOTS is made possible by
updating, changing and
adding more
functionalities to the SUTinsServer
where thai languge part was taken from NECTEC's TLE7.0. The system is
now mainly based on Ubuntu server. The installer is a modified
Puppy Linux 4.1.
It uses GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE Version 2.
