Installing SUTLinux using USB Flash Drive

Introduction:
User may download SUTLinux iso file, then write this image to a USB flash drive after that you may boot computer with this USB flash drive and the installation for SUTLinux will begin. This means user does not have to write an ISO file onto a DVD but instead write it onto a USB flash drive by using a program called Unetbootin.   This how -to  will show you howto write an SUTLinux iso to a USB flash drive using program unetbootin running on Windows.

ผู้ใช้สามารถดาวน์โหลดไฟล์ ISO ของ SUTLinux เวอร์ชั่นที่ต้องการแล้วเขียนข้อมูลนั้นบน USB flash drive หลังจากนั้นให้บูตคอมพิวเตอร์ผ่านทาง USB flash drive นั้น ก็จะเข้าสู่การติดตั้ง ซึ่งนั่นก็หมายถึงว่า ผู้ใช้ไม่จำเป็นต้องเขียนไฟล์ ISO ลงบนแผ่นดีวีดี แต่เขียนบน USB flash drive แทน ด้วยโปรแกรมชื่อ Unetbootin. สำหรับ  how-to ที่จะกล่าวต่อไปนี้ คือการติดตั้ง SUTLinux iso บน USB flash drive ด้วยโปรแกรม Unetbootin ที่รันบน Windows.



  1. USB flash drive ต้องมีขนาด 2 GB ขึ้นไป ควรทำการฟอร์แมทก่อนให้เป็น FAT32 เท่านั้น จากนั้นถ้ามีเนื้อที่มากพอ ท่านอาจบรรจุข้อมูลอื่นๆ ส่วนตัว ของท่านไว้ในในไดเร็กทอรี่ data
    Having a USB drive with at least 2GB. Format it to be FAT32.  If you have enough room, you may save your personal data in a directory called data.
  2. ท่านต้องอยู่ในวินโดวส์
    You are on Windows.
  3. ดาวน์โหลดไฟล์ ISO ของ SUTLinux เวอร์ชั่นที่ต้องการมา
    Download ISO file of SUTLinux you want to try.
  4. ดาน์วโหลดโปรแกรมเขียนไฟล์ ISO ได้ที่ unetbootin-windows-344.exe 
    Download USB ISO writer unetbootin-windows-344.exe
  5. รันโปรแกรม unetbootin-windows-344 ขึ้นมา จะปรากฎหน้าต่างตัวโปรแกรม ดังภาพ
    Run program unetbootin-windows-344 and will get a window as below.
     



  6. ตรง Diskimage ให้เลือก ISO และกดที่ปุ่ม ... เพื่อเลือกไฟล์ ISO ที่ดาวน์โหลดมาไว้แล้วนั้น สมมุติว่าเป็น SUT_MDE_3.0-DVD-17Nov2008.iso จากนั้นให้ตรวจสอบช่อง drive ของ USB Drive ว่าตรงกับที่ปรากฎในโปรแกรมหรือไม่ เมื่อแน่ใจแล้วให้กดปุ่ม OK

    Diskimage field choose ISO and at click at ... to browse and choose the SUTLinux ISO file that you just downloaded. For example SUT_MDE_3.0-DVD-17Nov2008.iso.  Then make sure that Drive field for Type USB Drive is correct.  Then, click OK.
     



  7. จากนั้นโปรแกรมจะเริ่มทำงาน ดังภาพ
    Then the program will start working and you will see as in figures below.



  8. เมื่อกระบวนการติดตั้งสำเร็จแล้ว จะปรากฎหน้าต่างให้ reboot ระบบใหม่ ดังภาพ  ให้กด Exit
    When finish as in below figure, click Exit




  9. ให้เข้าไปแก้ไขไฟล์ syslinux.cf  ใน USB flash drive ที่ติดตั้งนั้น โดยให้แก้ไข ดังนี้

  10. นำ USB flash drive เสียบเข้าที่ช่อง USB แล้วบูตคอมพิวเตอร์ใหม่ และกำหนดให้คอมพิวเตอร์บูตระบบผ่านทาง USB flash drive นั้น ซึ่งบางครั้งอาจจะต้องเข้าไปตั้งค่าที่ BIOS
    หรืออาจต้องกดบางคย์ตอนเครื่องบูตเพื่อทำการบูตระบบผ่านทาง USB ไดรว์

    Put USB flash drive into a USB port and reboot computer. You may have to find a key to specify device to boot when computer starts or you may need to change BIOS setup.  You have to boot computer fron this USB flash drive and installation for SUTLinux will begin.
